Thursday, December 14 (jueves, 14 de diciembre)

Renato ... Thanks for the Christmas card!

Places ... Am gonna call today's entry 'Places.' Just pictures of various places around town in no particular order.

Al banco Leon (Leon Bank) on Pedro Clisante just down the street from the Santa Cruz Bank. This is the ATM that I normally use. It has been my experience that it rarely fails. Just be sure you always use the ATM's in Sosua during business hours only. There is a lot of ATM fraud here.

Campo Bar, just a few steps down from my apartment. I do not normally go in there because I am not much of a drinker, but they have a 'hard core' following.

Restaurante La Nortena is located across the street from the Campo Bar and just down from Club Residencia.

La Nortena is a little dominican-operated outside restaurant that features barbecued chicken. A great place for the munchies late at night.

Bologna's Restaurant on avenida Martinez. Great food!

El Toro Steak House located way down Pedro Clisante. Many say it is the best steak house in Sosua though I have never eaten there.

The Atlantic Blue seafood restaurant on Pedro Clisante. I rarely see many people eating there and my opinion is that the food is okay, but overpriced.

Looking for a good little laundry? This one is located just down the side street right next to Hamburger Paradise.

The famous Domino Bar in Plaza Sosua.

The fresh fruit stand at the intersection on the main road across the street from la bomba (the Texaco station).

Farmacia San Rafael D'val located next to the ice cream shop at the Texaco station. I think it is one of the two best farmacias in El Batay.

The ferreteria (hardware store) at the Texaco station. I have had good luck buying at this ferreteria.

The infamous Sosua Palace ... for years known as the most famous whore house in Sosua. It is now closed, but the building stands out against the landscape.

A little tienda selling mostly women's clothes and beach stuff ... located on Martinez.

Little Playero (super mercado) located on Pedro Clisante downtown across from La Roca restaurant.

Word for the day ... abuelo ... grandfather

I received an e-mail from my daughter-in-law today telling me that they are going to induce labor this coming Monday. She and my son John are super excited and I hope soon proud grandpa (me) will be posting pictures of newborn Tristan.

Stay Tuned!
