More Faces In The Street ...
It has been difficult to get down to Rocky's lately due to all the rain we are getting. It has rained every day and every night for the past week. For the most part it is not continuous, but what looks like a beautiful day turns suddenly into a torrential tropical downpour in just a moment.
Not complaining though. Back home in central Missouri they are digging out of 14 inches of snow that came Friday. It is 14 degrees farenheit in Missouri today. It is colder in Columbia, MO than it is in Edmonton, where my oldest son is (25 degrees farenheit) ... so I am not complaining about a little rain.
Today's entry features more people I have crossed paths with on my ventures out and about in Sosua.
One of the cell phone holder guys.
This gentleman works in the ferreteria (hardware store). I was there the other day buying fixtures to hang pictures in my apartment.
The other day I was walking through the barrio and came across this gentleman hard at work with a pick, breaking up rocks and then shoveling them into the back of the truck. Look at the chest and stomach on this guy. It doesn't look like mine.
This gentleman was sitting in the truck while the other guy was doing all the work. At first I didn't see him and as I started to walk off, he called to me and asked me to take his picture too. Dominicans are such 'hams' when it comes to posing for the camera.
At the Sosua Taxi Stand.
One of my dominicano motoconcho friends. Everyday he stops and we chat in the street.
A worker at one of the small tiendas a la playa (at the beach).
The security guy at Progressive Bank next to Super Super. He is another of my dominican buddies and I have a hard time walking by with my camera and not taking his picture. How do I explain to him that I already have a dozen pictures of him? So I just keep taking his picture.
Word For The Day ... Quiza ... maybe
Pronounce the QUI as Key ... the Z as an s ... the A as aah
Quiza si Quiza no ... maybe so maybe not
Also the name of one of my favorite canciones de bachata (bachata songs)
Quiza Si Quiza No by the Los Toros Band
Stay Tuned!
