When it Rains ...

Today a tropical storm blew in and it rained hard ... really hard. It is always different and interesting here when it rains. So, after it quit pouring down, I went for my camera, walked around and took the following pictures.

The water stands everywhere and takes forever to get down the drains.

Much of the drainage problem is because the drains are clogged with the results of the constant littering that the Dominican people unthinkingly do. Tear a wrapper off a candy bar, take a bite while tossing the wrapper to the ground. Finish a bottle of water ... into the gutter goes the plastic bottle. Such a shame. They have totally littered a beautiful country and don't even realize it.

The motoconcho (motorcycle taxi) drivers get their rain gear out. That usually consists of a large garbage bag with a hole cut out for their head and arms. The ladies don't want their hair to get wet so they 'don' their protective headgear ... usually a plastic sack or a shower cap.

People walk around or drive around for awhile totally soaked.

Not a big deal, the weather is, of course, tropical here and they will dry quickly once the sun comes back out.
